Your heli wedding day
You’ve booked your heli wedding, confirmed your witnesses, guests and flights, obtained your marriage license, and you’ve added custom elements to meet your wildest dreams. Now you’re waking up on your wedding day. We hope you’ve allowed yourself time to savour this big day without appointments and errands.
When you arrive at the Canmore Municipal Heliport, I will be waiting to welcome you. In the hour prior to our flights, I will ask you to complete waivers and a Covid health questionnaire, view a helicopter safety video, check out maps of our wedding site options, perhaps borrow extra clothing, and take your last chance to use the washrooms.
Savouring silence, green meadows and rocky ridges, and breathtaking 360 degree views.
At last, we’ll take off, and fly up to the alpine meadows near the summit of Mt Charles Stewart, 1000 m above Canmore, in just 8 minutes. Additional guests will arrive, six per trip, every 15 minutes. Your busy day will then quickly morph into savouring silence, green meadows and rocky ridges, and breathtaking 360 degree views. You’ll be surrounded by just a handful of your family and friends, and perhaps a marmot or some bighorn sheep.
We’ll walk around to find the perfect site for your ceremony, finding tree shelter from wind if we need it. We may walk to the top of a small peak or around to the other side of a ridge to tremendous viewpoints.
It’s time for final preparations and a big circle, and your I Do’s, vows and exchange of wedding rings will be underway.
Toasts to you!
Enjoy being introduced to your family and friends with your new married name, and shake a bottle of faux champagne to bubble out into awaiting little mason jars. Toasts to you, your marriage, your future and a lot of laughter and photos ensue.
At this point, some couples have brought (or asked me to bring) a picnic to share, others begin a hike down to a lower location for our helicopter pick up, and many walk around to enjoy whatever draws them in this fabulous landscape.
Our pick up flights will then arrive, hovering in the air for a photo over the wedding couple, and then whisk us all back down to the heliport.
I hope this gives you an exciting image of how your mountain adventure wedding might be. Please note you can find more photos on Instagram, especially if you look at the ones posted by photographers who have tagged my page.
all the best, Martha
